The summer is over and we are about to enter the fall of our
term. I am looking forward to finishing my stand in the East with a flourish. We have several very
interesting fraternal visits planned and some excellent speakers. We, again, will have two meetings a
month.
Our first speaker on Thursday September 2, 2010 will be Akram Elias, the 2008 Grand Master Free Masons
for Washington, DC. His presentation will be VERY INTERESTING. I would love a good turnout to honor the
past GM. Our September 16th speaker will be our own brother Patrick Mendis. Bro. Patrick will be talking
about his new book which discusses masonry in many different ways.
We had an extremely busy August considering it’s suppose to be the lazy hazy summer days. Well, between
our PM John Clair giving us a very interesting presentation on the Orange Revolution and its impact on
our Masonic fraternity and a four day Arlington County Fair we were very busy to say the least. Brother
Clair had some great ideas that we all need to seriously keep in our minds for the betterment of our
fraternity. Our Junior Warden, Justin Strait, was in the East and did an outstanding job in managing the
meeting and the ritual.
We had a terrific booth at the Arlington County Fair during the weekend of August 19 through the 22nd
with many, many, many brothers taking their time to spend at the booth showing the world what
Freemasonry is all about. We had brothers from Cherrydale, Kemper Macon Ware and Arlington Glebe lodges
as well as the York Rite College headed up by Bro. John Bullach PM of Sharon Lodge #327. I want to give
special thanks to Bro Justin Strait who was the main organizer of the booth at the fair. He rounded up
brothers to man the booth, brought balloons and an air compressor to blow up the balloons for the kids
and the various symbols of our fraternity were laid out on tables in the booth. We passed out pamphlets
and pens for all takers. Our smiling faces, though, were the real assets for our fraternity. Thank you
all!!!
Besides our two meetings this month we have the Ladies Night dinner at the Army Navy Club in Arlington
on September 24, 2010. Bring your ladies to this once a year event. It’s a great dinner and socializing
by all.
