From the East

Dear Brethren:

We had another very interesting month at the Lodge. We had four great speakers. Eric Madison who spoke about the App his firm designed for Masons which can be down loaded to an Apple iPhone to identify all Masonic lodges throughout the US and parts of Europe and Asia. He's working on a similar version for the Droide and the Blackberry. He also spoke about the Masonic brotherhood reaching out to more social directories such as Face Book and Twitter in order to reach our younger brothers. We also had Christine Lucas from Arlington Food Assistance Corp. explaining our we can help our community by bringing canned foods into lodge for subsequent delivery to her organization. Every brother should bring at least one can of food when he comes to lodge. John Bullach spoke about the Royal Arch which meets at our lodge on Wednesdays. These are appendant bodies that we need to know and perhaps join. Our Sr. Warden, Carl Weaver, is a member.

We had Phil Traina and Emily Carnes gave a talk about donating hearing aids, eye glasses, ink jet cartridges and cell phones to the Lions Club. Boxes for these items are located in the social hall.

We have two very interesting speakers in May. John Shroeder of the Research Lodge at the George Washington Memorial Lodge in Alexandria who will present a very interesting program on our Masonic history. Also in May we will have Lt. Col. William G.L. Turner, National First VP of the National Sojourners, Inc. who will present a very interesting program on the evolution of the flag of our country with his "Building of the Stars and Stripes" presentation. All of the brothers who are still attached to the service of our country or who were will find Brother Turner's presentation very interesting and extremely patriotic.

We had the election of two new potential brothers, a father and son. We now have 15 candidates in various stages of receiving further light.

Our dinners have been outstanding as well thanks to Brother Bryan Spoon.

Now that the weather has turned to spring we are having an ice cream social on the Sunday May 2, 2010 for our entire Cherrydale Masonic brothers and their families. You all come, hear?

Fraternally yours,

James Franklin Norris
Worshipful Master
