From the East

Dear Brethren:

We had an outstanding installation ceremony on the 17th of December 2009. Your officers were sworn in for 2010 with great pomp and circumstance.

We had three representatives from the Grand Lodge, RW Louis Kerford Campbell, G. J.W. and Paul David Sleeper, G.J.D. as well as our own Worshipful Francis Reed Brown, Grand Lodge Organist. Right Worshipful Brian Andrew Block, DDGM for the 54th District also graced us with his presence.

I sincerely want to thank my installing officers: MW Stewart Wilson Miner, Installing Officer, Travis Sanchez Hilliard, PM, Installing Marshal, Bro. Paul Sunal, Installing Secretary, and Bro. Robert Walton Liles as Assistant Installing Marshal. We also had a large turnout of brothers, family and friends.

I want to express my humble appreciation to the brothers of Cherrydale Lodge 42 for their trust and support in electing me as the 88th Worshipful Master for the year 2010. I accept this high honor knowing that it comes with a great deal of responsibility to not only the current lodge brothers, but also those that preceded us.

My goals are to continue to promote the high principles of the Masonic Fraternity by adhering to the constitution of Masonry, the Laws of the Grand Lodge of Virginia and the by-laws of this particular lodge. I will make every effort to promote the ideals of free masonry both in the lodge and in the community.

The objectives of my term will be to improve and expand the ritual community within the lodge, increase fraternal visits in order to expand our friendships throughout the 54th District and beyond, and to continue to educate our brethren so that they will fully appreciate the rich heritage of Free and Accepted Masons.

Fraternally yours,

James Franklin Norris
Worshipful Master
