TRESTLEBOARD
November-December, 2009

From the West

Dear Brethren:

This will be the last Trestleboard for the year so I will use this opportunity to express my appreciation to all of my brothers who worked so hard this year to make Cherrydale 42 a Lodge of friendship and virtue during a very transitional year. I say that because our WM, John Clair, had additional duties at his workplace which took him away from the lodge for weeks at a time and many of us had to sit in the East. However, brothers such as Justin Strait, Scott Aughenbaugh, Paul Sunal, John Frank, Don Strehle, Matt Quay, Robert Rench, Jr. and Leroy Levine picked up the baton and continued to move our lodge forward. I appreciate PM Travis Hilliard for coming back from time to time with speakers who made our meetings just that much more enjoyable.

I have a special thanks to extend to our Jr. Warden for this year, Bro. Carl Weaver. Carl was made an assistant to RW C. Bruce Palmer, our DIW, because of his outstanding ritual education. In addition to completing all four Masonic education programs he managed the Masonic Degree work for our lodge. We had a very successful year by bringing seven prospective brothers through the journey.

We had brethren from Kemper Macon Ware #64 who helped us with our degree work which would not have been successful without them. We look forward to our continued close ties with KMW during the coming year.

I want to thank RW Roger Worley Peak, DDGM for coming to our meetings so frequently and keeping us up to speed on the many events occurring in the 54th District. He definitely made us feel much more connected to both the district and the Grand Lodge.

Last, but not least, I want to sincerely thank the RW C. Bruce Palmer for all that he does to teach us not only the ritual but the tradition beyond the ritual. I know the grey hair he has is not from age but from listening to the officers butcher the ritual that makes Masonry so special. His patience and perseverance only makes us all better Masons.

I am looking forward, as is every officer, to 2010. Our open installation will be on December 17, 2009 (correction from the September Trestle Board) with elections on December 3, 2009. I encourage you to attend and bring your family members. It’s important that all family members of a Mason participate in our fraternity whenever possible.

Fraternally yours,

James Franklin Norris
Senior Warden
