From the East

Dear Brethren:

I must say with our first month of the year behind us, I have been very pleased with the level of enthusiasm shown in the lodge. Mainly, our lodge restoration committee is up and running with several improvements in the works, and our L.I.W. also has made progress in preparing our brethren for upcoming degree work.

As some of you may be aware, my theme for the year is “Tempering the Mortar.” One way I wish to accomplish this goal of strengthening the bond within our Fraternity, is by participating in local community projects, one of which is Habitat for Humanity. For those of you who are unaware, Habitat for Humanity builds affordable housing for hardworking families in need. I personally can think of no undertaking more appropriate for a society of builders, like ourselves. It is my intention to return our Craft to its operative labors, if only for a moment.

In the month of February, this project will be my primary concern, and we will have a speaker attending the lodge to outline how we may support this noble foundation. I would ask that each of you who desire to assist in this activity to attend with your family and be prepared to look deep into your hearts to support this most important endeavor.

Fraternally yours,

John Patrick Clair
