| We had a very successful Official
Visit from our District Deputy Grand Master Right Worshipful Albert Roy Conlon. Right Worshipful Al has
been a longtime friend and supporter of Cherrydale Lodge. We had Fraternal Visits from Concord and
Sharon Lodges. RWOR Al has 2 more Official in March and in April his Official visits will be at KMW
Lodge in Falls Church, 11 April, and Sharon Lodge in McLean, 13 April. I would like to see Cherrydale
Lodge have fraternal visits for RWOR Al’s Official visits. We had 40 brothers in attendance and our
Steward had a fantastic meal prepared for us. Many compliments were received for this meal!
Unfortunately, during the communication we had to hold a memorial for our longtime member Brother Mel
Chamowitz. Brother Mel passed to the Celestial Lodge this month. Brother Mel served many years as the
Official Photographer for Cherrydale Lodge. He was ignited EA 10/07/1947, Passed to FC 05/05/1947, and
Raised to Master Mason 06/16/1947. Brother Mel also served our country in the military during World War
2. For our stated April meetings: We will start on 6 April with our Senior Wardens Night; Brother Carl says to plan for a fun evening. He says his program is a surprise, but will open the lodge open to friends, families and especially children!! WOR Harry Lyons, who has worked as a volunteer at the George Washington National Masonic Memorial in Alexandria Library for 30 years will be our speaker. This should be a very interesting evening! The next 54th Masonic District Blood Drive will be at Arlington Centennial-Glebe Lodge (ACG) one South Mason Drive, Arlington VA. This is the corner of South George Mason Drive and Route 50. Cherrydale lodge is responsible for the canteen and serving breakfast for all attending this blood drive! All brethren and friends are encouraged to support this event. Fresh Blood is very much needed. This is also an opportunity to meet your brother from other lodges. We have to move our Past Grand Masters Night to our August 17th Stated Communication. We are planning to Honor Most worshipful Stewart Miner; Past Master Of Cherrydale Lodge, Past Grand Master Of Virginia Mason, and Served for Many years as the Grand Secretary for the Grand Lodge Of The District Of Columbia. Most Worshipful Stu has also served in numerous other Grand high positions. |
