From the East

Dear Brethren:

Spring is here and we are going to be very busy at Cherrydale. At our last stated communication, we were honored to have Chief Scott of the Arlington County Police Department as our guest speaker; he gave a very interesting talk on what is happening in Arlington County.

June is going to be very exciting. At our first stated on June 2, we are going to have Wor:.Bro:. S. Brent Morris, 33° G.C. from the Supreme Council. Brother Morris is well versed in many Masonic subjects and is known worldwide as a great author and lecturer. I ask all brethren that are in the area to please make it to this meeting. I assure you that you will learn a lot from this brother.

Our second stated is an open discussion meeting. We will be talking about various Masonic subjects that the brethren might have, so if you have a question or want to share something to the craft, please mark your calendars for June 16th. We are planning to have a triple Master Masons degree on Saturday June 25 at 8 AM, please come out to welcome our new Master Masons.

My brethren, we are very lucky to have a new DeMoly chapter in the 54th Masonic district. If you know of any young man between the ages of 12-18, please encourage them to be a part of this great new chapter. You can pick up petitions and information at the lodge or e-mail the Master or Secretary.

Looking ahead…

At our July 21st meeting, we are going to have the members of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics. Their members will give a presentation of the formation, history, purpose, etc... of their organization. This Order’s emblem is very similar to the Freemasons, they use the Square and Compasses, but in the center is and Arm and Hammer instead of the "G". I encourage you all to attend this meeting.

On August 4th, we will be honored to have the Grand Master of Masons in Virginia, Most Worshipful John R. Quinley, as our guest speaker. Dinner is at 6:00 PM at the Cherrydale Masonic Temple with a tiled meeting at 7:30 PM. Officers attire is tuxedo.

August 27th is the One Day Class. Brethren, if you know anyone who is interested in becoming a Mason, but their schedule won't permit them to advance the regular way, the Grand Master has set aside August 27, 2005 as the day they can get all three degrees in one day. We will have this class at Sharon lodge in McLean. All petitions have to be in by July 20th. This is a great opportunity to increase our membership.

     See you in Lodge!

Fraternally yours,

Travis Hilliard,
Worshipful Master
